Government takeover of Insurance
Question #1: Would you vote for this proposal?
Sound like the health care “public option?” You would be correct. Democrats proposed this public option but it was not in the final bill.
Question #2: Would you vote for this proposal?
Sound like the health care “public option?” It is similar, but if you said it yes, you would be wrong.
It is legislation “H.R. 3121 [110th]: Commission on Natural Catastrophe Risk Management and Insurance Act of 2008.” The bill passed the Senate in May. 2008 and became law that year. Some might call it the federal flood insurance program.
Being a federal insurance program, and sponsored by Democrats, you might think it had minimal Republican backing. If you thought the Republicans were against this, you would be wrong.
Forty four (44) Republican Senators voted IN FAVOR of this “socialist” program. Only two Republican senators voted against it. So if the insurance is for your health, some call it is socialism. If the insurance is for your house, it is not only OK. It passes with near unanimous Republican support, even if subsidized by the American taxpayers.

H.R. 3121
Flood Insurance Reform and Modernization Act of 2007
A bill to restore the financial solvency of the national flood insurance program and to provide for such program to make available multiperil coverage for damage resulting from windstorms and floods, and for other purposes.
